Is The Better Bible really free?
Yes! All features are completely free with no ads, no tracking, and no paywalls. We believe everyone should have access to powerful Bible study tools.
What translations are included?
Six public domain translations are included: KJV (King James Version), AKJV (American King James Version), ASV (American Standard Version), WEB (World English Bible), YLT (Young's Literal Translation), and GNV (Geneva Bible). You can also import your own translations via JSON files.
Does it work offline?
Absolutely! Every single feature works completely offline. Download once and use anywhere, anytime, without an internet connection. All Bible content and study tools are bundled with the app.
How does CloudKit sync work?
CloudKit is Apple's built-in sync service. Your bookmarks, notes, highlights, reading progress, and cross-references automatically sync across all your Apple devices. Your data stays private between you and Apple—we never see it. No additional account is required, just your Apple ID.
Is my data private?
Yes. The Better Bible has no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. We don't collect any personal data. CloudKit sync is the only connection, and that data stays with Apple, not us. Even AI-powered features like smart cross-references run entirely on your device.
What Apple devices are supported?
The Better Bible runs on iPhone (iOS 17+), iPad (iPadOS 17+), Mac (macOS 14 Sonoma+), Apple TV (tvOS 17+), and Apple Watch (watchOS 10+). Each platform has a native app optimized for that device.
Can I import my own Bible translation?
Yes! You can import any Bible translation in our JSON format. This is great for translations not included by default or for personal study versions. See our User Guide for the JSON format specification.
What is word-level audio highlighting?
This is an industry-first feature where each word highlights in real-time as it's spoken during audio playback. It's perfect for following along, improving reading comprehension, and meditation. You can also use Apple's Personal Voice feature on iOS 17+ to hear Scripture in your own voice.
